The year is 1848 Carl Marx writes the communist manifesto, and lay the foundation for communist thought. Over a century later, his ideas live on Surviving countless rulers, conflicts, and persecutions his ideas found safe haven in American politics and gave birth to the communist party in its current incarnation. In this paper, we will discuss the current state of the communist party in the United States, and their struggles with the conservative institutions of our government.
Carl Marx wrote the communist manifesto in 1848. That single essay started the communist revolutions of the middle 1800s, but not many people know what communism is. To learn what communism is you must see through the propaganda put for on both sides of the political fence. Communism is the form of government centered on the well being of the working class. It's had a strong central government that controls everything. Everyone has a job and everyone is paid the same. This way the government by the people and for the people can change the way their country operates with little lag time between decree and implementation. In this way, everyone is guaranteed to be equal to those.
Much to the dismay of Carl Marx there has never been a country that practices true communism. This is because the economy breakdown during socialism due to the lack of motivation to do the work given to you. This lack of motivation is a direct result of the government paying you no matter how good or bad you work. This is one of the problems with communism. Another is that during the socialist period the ruler would be unwilling to give up the power he has in order to intact true communism.
A big problem with the understanding of communism if that it is often mixed up with socialism. These similar forms of government pose a veritable threat to anyone who doesn't know the difference between the two. In the simplest terms socialism is the intern government used to convert capitalism to a communist system. Socialism still has people working for wages, therefore monetary equality has not be reached. Socialism is the society that will pave the way for a communist society by setting a foundation of co-operation and sharing of all things in common. Communism is the realization of these goals.
The more recent theorist of the communist idea believe the problems associated motivation will be solve with a great deal of nationalism. "Workers will learn to work hard for the good of the nation instead of their own well being," says a spokes person for the communist party. It is unclear whether this new approve will yield any results. It is certain that to attain the level of patriotism in the majority of people. Control and censorship of the mass media will be needed.
Lastly, the problem that plagued former communist countries is that of individual right. How can you guarantee the right of the people with a government as powerful and omnipotent as the one in a communist state? The answer to these lies in the restriction of the government power to control the common man. By passing a bill of right early in the governments life, they can stop the problem before it gets out of control. An another answer might come in the form of stability. With a stable government, the threat of upheaval becomes less and the government can put less attention toward moderating free thinkers
Since the beginning communist party has had a clearly defined purpose. Their goal is to unite the working class in order to secure the well being of the people. To them, it only makes sense that the working class runs the country. Although many would say this is undemocratic, the communist party of America has always been for the democratic system. Their problem is with capitalism. The rich getting richer and the poor getting poorer is one of the problems with capitalism. Communism is an attempt to override the greed of the richer so that the workers can have an equal share in the wealth of a nation. To secure this equality the power and influence of the government must be unquestioned.
This is almost the polar opposite of what we practice to day where the government has as little in evolvement in the economy as possible. One of the benefits of having the government moderate is that it can change rapidly to adapt to a change in the economic tide. With the government take control over the economy the profit margins disappear, this is because all the money made by the government is divided up and given to the workers as a wage. Therefore, prices will go down and workers will be more willing to put money into the economy. Making the demand for product go up and allowing the government to employ more people. In this way everyone would have a steady job and wouldn't have to worry about getting a head. The life government in this case is tied directly to the people, so the government would have no choice but to act in a way that would benefit the people of the nation.
Right now, the communist party is having problems dealing with what they call the "ultra right" this is embodied most completely in the ideology of the bush administration. Believing that the invasion of an Iraq is the first step of bush's plan for western domination of the Middle East. They go on to say that the unending war on terror is the most modern form of imperialism. Bushes policies ultimate goal is world domination. The only reasons given to the public are rooted in the fear associated with the 9-11 terrorist attacks. Using this as a platform for global influence he has declared war on terrorism.
It is a smokescreen used very effectively by Bush strategists like Karl Rove, to divert attentions from job loss and budget cuts. The idea that the Bush administration is providing real security is a hoax. They have unlimited resources for the Department of Homeland Security to carry out psychological warfare with orange code alerts. Millions of people of all walks of life and all ages who poured into the streets of our cities and towns as did millions in other countries to say no to pre-emptive war on Iraq. The United States of America has had 500 young servicemen and women killed in the war on Iraq all because of a lie, and those who survive to return and find their veteran services cut. These are the victims of the giant military budget while the corporation Vice-President Cheney formerly headed gets no bid contracts in Iraq.
This administration is clearly using the war to further their own profits. Many would use this to argue the necessity of communism. Under communism there would be no corporations to profit off the lives others. The exploitation of one person by another would come to an end. Everyone would be content because no one would have more than anyone else. Economic equality would be achieved through communism. Many would go as from as to say that if society were to exist and function we would need to adopt a communist government.
Perhaps the largest plight of the communist party is the outsourcing of job to over sees. A party based on the working class is struggling to stay a float in a country where the working class is disappearing. Right now the massive work force of china can under bid any American company their worker are content to work for what little pay they receive. Some have asked why the working class is so important? The short answer is they are the majority class. It is their work, which creates the wealth, which allows a very few people to live in obscene luxury. Because they are the majority class, they have the real power to transform society. So why allow 10% of the people to control 90% of the wealth? The problem is unity the foundation of any government is that the people will allow them selves to be governed if the people stand united against the government, then there is no government. This applies to communism as well the people haven't come to realized the massive benefits of communism and therefore haven't levied for a communist state.
